According to Israeli police, two Palestinian attackers opened fire at a busy bus stop in Jerusalem, causing chaos and panic among the civilians present. The gunmen were later neutralized by security forces and a nearby civilian.

In a statement released after the attack, Hamas justified their actions as a “natural response to the unprecedented crimes of the occupier in the Gaza Strip and against children in Jenin” in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The group claimed that the two attackers, identified as Murad Nemr, 38, and Ibrahim Nemr, 30, were members of their organization based in east Jerusalem. It was also revealed that both attackers had previously been imprisoned by Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commended the swift response of off-duty soldiers and civilians, stating that their actions had prevented an even more serious attack from occurring. He further emphasized the need for heightened security measures to ensure the safety of the Israeli population.

This incident comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with ongoing conflicts between Israel and Hamas. The international community has called for calm and urged both sides to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve their differences.

The Israeli authorities have launched an investigation into the attack and have implemented additional security measures throughout Jerusalem. The incident serves as a reminder of the persistent threat of terrorism and the need for continued vigilance in combating such acts of violence.
