Seven Workers Killed in Chemical Factory Fire in Surat, Including Divyesh Patel, Santosh Vishwakarma, and Abhishek Singh

A massive explosion and subsequent fire in a chemical factory in Surat, India, has claimed the lives of seven workers. The bodies were recovered from the premises in the early hours of Thursday, November 30. The blast occurred in a storage tank at the Aether Industries Ltd manufacturing unit in the Sachin industrial area of the city.

Of the seven individuals found dead, one was an employee of the company, while the other six were contractual workers. The Surat district collector, Ayush Oak, confirmed the tragic news. He stated, “During a search operation in the factory premises, officials found bodies of seven workers who went missing after the fire which engulfed the plant on Wednesday.”

The deceased have been identified as Divyesh Patel, Santosh Vishwakarma, Sanat Kumar Mishra, Dharmendra Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Sunil Kumar, and Abhishek Singh.

In addition to the fatalities, around two dozen people were injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment in different hospitals. The fire broke out at approximately 2 am on Wednesday following an explosion in a large tank due to a leak of inflammable chemicals stored inside.

Firefighters worked tirelessly for nine hours, utilizing 15 fire tenders to bring the blaze under control. The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

A statement released by the company on November 29 indicated that the fire occurred at their manufacturing site in the GIDC Sachin area of Surat. The company expressed condolences for the loss of life and confirmed that approximately 25 injuries had been reported.

The incident highlights the need for strict safety measures in chemical factories to prevent such tragedies. Authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the blast and assess any negligence on the part of the company.
