Seven Workers Dead After Fire-Hit Chemical Plant in Surat: Divyesh Patel, Santosh Vishwakarma, Sanat Kumar Mishra, Dharmendra Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Sunil Kumar, and Abhishek Singh.

Seven workers have tragically lost their lives after a devastating fire broke out at a chemical manufacturing facility in Surat, Gujarat. The bodies of the missing workers were discovered a day after the fire destroyed the complex.

Surat Collector Ayush Oak confirmed that one of the deceased was an employee of Aether Industries Ltd, the company operating the chemical manufacturing business. The other six victims were contract workers. The bodies were found during a search operation conducted in the factory premises.

The deceased have been identified as Divyesh Patel, Santosh Vishwakarma, Sanat Kumar Mishra, Dharmendra Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Sunil Kumar, and Abhishek Singh. Meanwhile, 24 injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.

The fire erupted at the chemical plant at approximately 2 am on Wednesday following an explosion in a large tank. The explosion occurred due to the leakage of inflammable chemicals stored inside. Basant Pareek, the in-charge chief fire officer in Surat, stated that 15 fire tenders were engaged in a nine-hour operation to bring the fire under control.

A statement released by Aether Industries Ltd on November 29 and submitted to stock exchanges informed shareholders about the incident. The company reported that the fire occurred at its manufacturing site in Plot No. 8203, GIDC Sachin, Surat, early in the morning at around 1:50 am. The statement also mentioned that approximately 25 people had sustained injuries.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and will likely conduct a thorough safety inspection of the facility. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of strict safety measures in chemical manufacturing plants to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
