By | November 30, 2023

Two Palestinian boys, aged 8 and 15, were killed by Israeli military officials during a raid in the West Bank town of Jenin on Wednesday. The circumstances surrounding their shooting remain unclear, but security camera footage showed a group of children on a street. The children scatter, except for one boy who falls to the ground and another who disappears near a car. The boys were identified as Adam Samer al-Ghoul and Basil Suleiman Abu al-Wafa.

The video footage has not been independently verified, but the Israeli army released a statement claiming that their troops opened fire at suspects in the area who were allegedly throwing explosives at them. However, the children in the video were not seen throwing any objects, and it is unclear whether the young boys were suspected of throwing explosives.

In a separate incident, the Israeli military announced that they had killed two wanted militants, identified as Mohammed Zubeidi and Hussam Hanun, both members of the Islamic Jihad group. Zubeidi was wanted for his involvement in two shootings in the West Bank last May, including an attack that resulted in the death of an Israeli settler.

Violence in the West Bank has escalated since the Israel-Hamas war broke out, making this year the deadliest for Palestinians in the region since 2005. According to the United Nations, Israeli fire has killed over 230 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem between October 7th and November 28th, with 63 of them being children.

Furthermore, Israeli forces have arrested more than 2,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the war, with 1,100 of them allegedly affiliated with Hamas.

The killing of these two Palestinian boys adds to the already high death toll and raises further concerns about the use of force by Israeli military officials. The incident has sparked outrage among Palestinians and calls for an investigation into the actions of the Israeli army.
