Bolingbrook Man Arrested in Connection with 2022 Shooting Death of Naperville Man

A Bolingbrook man has been arrested in connection with the 2022 shooting death of a man from Naperville. Sammy L. Gibson, 58, was apprehended in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by U.S. Marshals on November 21, according to a press release from the Bolingbrook Police Department. Gibson was then transferred into the custody of the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on December 6, 2022, when Bolingbrook police responded to a report of “suspicious circumstances” in the 600 block of West Boughton Road. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of Eric Stubblefield, 38, from Naperville, inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Stubblefield had been shot multiple times.

Following an intensive investigation by Bolingbrook Police Detectives, in collaboration with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service, Gibson was taken into custody. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicide.
