89-Year-Old Assault Victim at Charlottesville Health and Rehab Dies

An 89-year-old man who was assaulted at Charlottesville Health and Rehab in October has died from his injuries, it was reported last week.

The alleged assailant, 83-year-old Raymond Boudewin Dewilde, was arrested on Wednesday and is currently being held without bond at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. Dewilde has been charged with second-degree murder.

The assault took place at the rehabilitation facility located off West Rio Road in Albemarle County. The victim, William Sommer, was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center after the incident on October 29.
