Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man in his garage in San Dimas. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, and authorities are looking into the possibility that the victim may have been followed home and targeted. Deputies were called to the scene on Hawbrook Drive shortly before 7 p.m. after reports of the shooting. Upon arrival, they found the man, identified by family members as Nicholas, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was declared dead at the scene.
The search is now underway for the suspect or suspects responsible for the killing. Family members, including Nicholas’ aunt Fanny Prentice, expressed their devastation and shock at the news. Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s property captured what appeared to be the sound of gunshots in the typically peaceful neighborhood. During the investigation, detectives noted that some of the victim’s belongings were missing, leading them to believe that the attack may have been a follow-home robbery.

Throughout the day, friends and family members visited the scene to pay their respects and console one another. Nicholas’ aunt described him as a kind and loving man who was devoted to his church and family, making it even more difficult for them to understand why this tragedy occurred.
Although authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, no arrests have been made, and no suspect descriptions have been released. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has urged anyone with information to contact them or call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
