BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Larry James Korus, 40, in connection with a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in the southern area of the county. Korus is facing two counts of manslaughter, according to BCSO.

The tragic incident took place on Monday around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 16 South near Smith Road. Witnesses reported observing a vehicle speeding before colliding with another vehicle.

Sheriff Salazar revealed that Korus was traveling at an alarming speed of 124 mph, with a speed of approximately 116 mph at the time of the crash. Notably, Korus was driving a high-performance Lexus, which sustained significantly less damage compared to the victims’ vehicle.

Salazar mentioned that Korus’s motivation for driving at such high speeds was his fear of being late for work. Unfortunately, his reckless actions resulted in the victims’ vehicle being thrown a considerable distance, causing it to flip over and tragically claiming the lives of the driver and passenger.

The victims have been identified as Linda Perry, 64, and Julie Perry, 40. They were pronounced dead at the scene, according to BCSO.

Interestingly, an investigator familiar with Korus revealed that his wife had previously died in a similar crash on the same stretch of road. She was driving a Camaro at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred.

County records indicate that Korus has two prior DWI (Driving While Impaired) arrests from the early 2000s, which raises concerns about his decision-making and responsibility behind the wheel.

The arrest of Korus brings some closure to the tragic incident, but it serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of reckless driving. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the crash, and Korus will face the legal consequences for his actions.
