Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned the Taliban’s representative in Islamabad on Tuesday to convey four demands regarding the recent attack in Bannu. The attack, which took place on Sunday, resulted in the death of two people and injured several others. The suicide bomber, an Afghan national affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, targeted a security forces convoy on a motorcycle.

The Pakistani military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, reported the incident and stated that this was the 16th attack in Pakistan carried out by an Afghan national. In response to the attack, Pakistan called for a strong protest and presented four demands to the Taliban’s representative during the meeting.

These demands included a thorough investigation into the Bannu attack, decisive action against those responsible for the attack, and immediate “verifiable actions” against all terrorist groups and their hideouts. Pakistan also urged the Taliban to apprehend Hafiz Gul Bahadar, the alleged mastermind behind the attack, and hand him over to Pakistani authorities. Additionally, Islamabad emphasized the need for the Taliban to prevent the use of Afghanistan’s territory for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

As of now, the Taliban has not provided any comment on the matter. However, Pakistani media outlets have been closely monitoring the situation and reporting on the demands made by Pakistan’s Foreign Office. This incident highlights the ongoing security concerns in the region and the need for increased cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan to address the issue of terrorism.

The extradition of Hafiz Gul Bahadur and the prevention of cross-border terrorism are crucial steps that Pakistan is demanding from the Taliban. The outcome of this meeting and the Taliban’s response will have significant implications for the future relations between the two countries and the overall security situation in the region.
