Dehradun: The investigation into a suspected hit-and-run case in the Vasant Vihar area of Dehradun has taken a mysterious turn as police have yet to find any trace of the vehicle involved in the incident. The bodies of two individuals, identified as Sandeep Mohan Dhasmana, a 40-year-old ex-serviceman, and Hemlata Devi, a 26-year-old housemaid, were discovered in a canal on Sunday morning.
Preliminary findings from the post-mortem examination revealed that both individuals died from internal injuries caused by a heavy object. Despite the suspicion of a hit-and-run, authorities have been unable to locate any evidence of a speeding vehicle. The police are currently examining CCTV footage from the area in an attempt to gather more information.

Investigations into the call records of the deceased individuals have revealed that there was no contact between them. This further complicates the case and raises questions about the circumstances leading to their deaths. Senior Superintendent of Police, Ajai Singh, expressed confidence in apprehending the culprit soon. He assured the public that the police are working diligently to solve the case and bring justice to the victims and their families.

Another incident involved a 38-year-old man who was killed when his bike was hit by a speeding truck. The truck driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police.

In Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, Maoists set fire to 14 vehicles and machines involved in construction work. The incident occurred when around 25-30 Maoists disguised as villagers targeted the construction site. The police quickly responded and extinguished the fire, and no injuries were reported.
