A man from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty of secretly photographing and recording over thirty women in retail store changing rooms. Daniel Briggs Toy was arrested in 2022 when he was caught recording someone changing in a Target store.

The incident occurred in May 2022 when a victim reported a peeping tom incident at a Target near 101st and Memorial. The victim stated that while she was trying on clothes in a dressing room, she noticed a phone pointed at her from under the door. When she opened the door, she saw Toy trying to enter another dressing room. Despite her attempts to confront him and block the door, Toy overpowered her and closed himself in a dressing room, injuring her elbow in the process.

Witnesses who heard the commotion looked into the dressing room and saw Toy frantically deleting photos from his phone. Target security arrived, but Toy managed to flee the scene, although his license plate was captured on video.

In June 2022, police conducted a search of Toy’s residence and found his phone, computer, and the clothes he was wearing when caught at Target. Further evidence uncovered by the police revealed additional incidents of voyeurism by Toy.

One piece of evidence showed Toy installing and adjusting a hidden camera in his guest bathroom, which captured another victim changing. Police contacted the victim, who confirmed that she had stayed at Toy’s place with her husband during their visit to Tulsa. Another victim also identified herself in bathroom footage.

Court documents revealed that Toy faced ten counts of voyeurism. In September, he waived his right to a jury trial.

It is a reminder for everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. Retailers are also encouraged to take necessary measures to ensure the safety and privacy of their customers in changing rooms.
