Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Melinda Epperson, 73, in Chandler Crosswalk

A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Chandler police in Arizona after he hit an elderly woman with his car while she was crossing the road and then fled the scene. The victim, identified as 73-year-old Melinda Epperson, tragically died from her injuries.

The incident took place on November 27 at around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Ocotillo Road and Paseo Trail in Chandler. According to investigations, the suspect, who was driving a BMW sedan, was heading eastbound on Ocotillo Road when he struck the woman in the crosswalk. Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene.

Shortly after, the suspect was involved in another collision after running a red light at McQueen and Ocotillo Roads. Once again, he fled the scene of the second crash. However, officers were able to locate and apprehend him in the area.

The suspect has been identified as Keith Taylor, aged 26. He is facing several charges, including manslaughter, according to Chandler police. Speeding and impairment are believed to have played a role in the fatal crash.
