A man allegedly killed his daughter in Rajasthan’s Pali district by slitting her throat and later setting her on fire, according to the police. The man, identified as Shivlal Meghwal, remains at large. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Siryari village.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the accused felt his daughter, Nirma Meghwal, was responsible for discord in the family, leading him to commit the crime. The accused had been living separately from his family in Gujarat for a long time.
Nirma, who lived in Gandhidham in Gujarat with her husband, had come to Pali to attend a wedding. Meanwhile, her father, Shivlal, arrived at her in-laws’ house and asked Nirma and her younger sister to accompany him to a certain place. Nirma went with her father and her minor son on a motorcycle.
However, Shivlal pretended to forget his mobile phone and asked his younger daughter to wait while he continued with Nirma to a secluded place. It was there that he allegedly slit her throat and set her body on fire after sprinkling petrol. When Shivlal returned, his other daughter noticed blood on his hand and raised an alarm. The villagers were alerted and the police were called. They discovered Nirma’s half-burnt body.
The police have recovered the body and are currently on the hunt for the accused. Efforts are underway to nab him. This tragic incident has shocked the community, and the motive behind the crime is still being investigated.
