Man Identified in Portland Shooting Incident
Police have identified the man who was fatally shot outside a home in Portland’s Cully neighborhood last week as Eric Bankhead, aged 33.
According to reports, officers were alerted to gunshots in the 4700 block of Northeast 62nd Avenue just before 10 p.m. on November 21st. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bankhead’s lifeless body near a residence.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing numerous gunshots around 9:50 p.m. Pete Franklin, a resident living nearby, stated that he heard an argument preceding the gunfire.
“We heard some shouting, and then it sounded like several rounds of gunfire,” Franklin shared with The Oregonian/OregonLive.
As of Wednesday, the police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
The death of Bankhead marks the 67th homicide in Portland this year, with a total of 69 such deaths reported in 2023.
