Elbert Earl Thomas, Jr. Wanted for Second-Degree Murder in Shooting Death of Erica Chew

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) – Police in Blytheville are on the lookout for a man who allegedly shot and killed someone over the Thanksgiving holiday. Elbert Earl Thomas, Jr., aged 34, is wanted for second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by certain individuals, according to a statement released by the Blytheville Police Department. The incident occurred on November 23 at approximately 11:06 p.m. in the vicinity of Willow Street and Madison Street.

Officers were alerted to the incident after receiving reports of gunshots being fired in the area. Upon arrival at the scene, they were informed that a gunshot victim had been taken to the Great River Medical Center. The victim, identified as Erica Chew, 42, was met by officers in the hospital’s emergency room. Chew was initially stabilized at the hospital before being airlifted to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away.

Further investigation led the officers to identify Elbert Earl Thomas, Jr. as the suspect in the shooting. Authorities have warned that Thomas should be considered armed and dangerous. The Blytheville Police Department is urging anyone who has any information about Thomas’ whereabouts to contact them immediately at 870-763-4411.
