Two brothers were fatally stabbed by a group of six individuals during a wedding procession in Khetasarai area of Jaunpur district on Tuesday evening. The victims, identified as Ajai Prajapati, 23, and Ankit Prajapati, 20, were residents of Babhnauti locality in Khetasarai. The attackers were arrested after a police encounter the following day.
The incident occurred when the wedding procession arrived in Khetasarai town and some guests approached the brothers’ fast food shop to consume alcohol. Ajai, objecting to their actions, asked them not to drink near his shop, resulting in a heated argument. Subsequently, the six assailants attacked Ajai and Ankit with knives before escaping the scene. The brothers sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to the district hospital. Unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

In response to the brutal crime, the police launched an operation to apprehend the culprits. During the early hours of Wednesday, the authorities successfully arrested the six accused, namely Mukesh Bind, Neeshu Bind, Satish Bind, Vivek Bind, Jagdish alias Ramsingh Bind, and Amarjeet, all residents of Manechha village. A confrontation between the police and the suspects resulted in leg injuries for Mukesh Bind, Neeshu Bind, and Satish Bind. Consequently, a case has been filed against them under sections 147, 148, 149, 302, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, as confirmed by Shubham Modi, CO (Shahganj).
The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning. The local authorities have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that justice will be served. Such acts of violence are deeply concerning and highlight the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The police are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the attack and are determined to bring all those responsible to justice.
