A teenager is set to face trial as an adult after being accused of causing the death of a University of Cincinnati student in a hit-and-run incident while driving a stolen car. The incident occurred in September 2022 when two pedestrians were crossing Jefferson Avenue in a designated crosswalk. However, a 2014 Honda CR-V, believed to be stolen, disregarded a traffic light and struck the victims. The car then continued north on Jefferson Avenue, collided with a tree, and eventually came to a halt at West Martin Luther King Drive. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.
Both victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Tragically, 18-year-old Cayden Turner, one of the victims, succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.

On Friday evening, the police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in connection with the fatal crash. The teenager has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, along with several other serious offenses.
Juvenile court documents have revealed that Judge Kari Bloom has decided to transfer the case and charges to adult court. However, the suspect has not yet been formally indicted as an adult.
