Two men, Andrew Fisher and Tre Manuel Iglesias, are facing murder charges in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in South St. Paul last week. According to the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Fisher, 20, from Cambridge, and Iglesias, 22, from St. Paul, face two felony counts of second-degree murder. The incident took place on the 400 block of 3rd Avenue South when officers responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered a man on the ground with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Avontae Troy King of South St. Paul, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena expressed her condolences to the family and friends of Mr. King for their great loss. Later that day, Iglesias admitted to law enforcement that he was present during the incident. He claimed that he and Fisher went to the residence, and Fisher took a bag of marijuana and fled, eventually shooting the victim. Both men then fled the scene in Iglesias’ vehicle. A witness, who is a friend of Iglesias, informed the police that Fisher mentioned shooting someone upon their return to Iglesias’ house.

On Tuesday, Fisher and Iglesias made their first court appearance. Fisher’s bail was set at $1 million without conditions, while Iglesias’ bail was set at $750,000 without conditions. Their next court date is scheduled for December 12. If convicted, both men could face a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
