Sad News of Maria Aguinda’s Passing
Today, we are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Maria Aguinda, a courageous leader and Kichwa Indigenous woman in Ecuador. Maria was the lead plaintiff in a historic lawsuit against the multinational corporation Chevron. The lawsuit, which sought $9.5 billion in damages, was filed in response to Chevron’s irresponsible dumping of billions of gallons of toxic waste in Ecuador.
