8-Year-Old Girl Dies After SUV Crashes into Bus Stop, Killing Mother

An 8-year-old girl who was critically injured in a tragic car crash in South Los Angeles on Thanksgiving has sadly passed away, according to the police. The incident occurred when an SUV collided with a bus stop, killing the girl’s mother, Alma Aragon, and injuring the young girl.

The crash took place at around 1:30 p.m. on 1758 W. 83rd St., just east of Western Avenue. The SUV, driven by an alleged drunk driver, veered onto the sidewalk, hitting the mother and daughter who were walking at the time.

Local authorities have reported that the collision was a result of one car speeding down the road and colliding with another vehicle attempting a U-turn while exiting a nearby liquor store parking lot. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported all three victims to a regional trauma center for treatment.

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, authorities believe that alcohol played a significant role in the crash. It has been confirmed that the speeding driver was unlicensed, but their identity has not yet been released.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, according to the LAPD.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the devastating consequences of drunk driving and the need for stricter enforcement to prevent such tragedies. The loss of a mother and the critical injury and subsequent death of a young girl has left the community in mourning.
