Fort Myers Woman Identified as Victim in Fatal Shooting

The victim of a recent fatal shooting in Fort Myers has been identified as 37-year-old Sade Motley. Motley was shot and killed in the early hours of November 18 at 3412 South Street, according to Fort Myers Police.

Motley’s mother, Sandra Smith, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her daughter’s funeral expenses. As of Tuesday afternoon, the page had collected just over $700 towards its $20,000 goal. Motley leaves behind four children.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000 for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case. Authorities can be contacted at 1-800-780-TIPS.

The arrest of Willie Stevenson, 40, was announced by Fort Myers Police on November 20. Stevenson has been charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. He was released on a $150,000 bond on November 19, according to jail records.

When officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they detained Stevenson and found Motley in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Stevenson was arrested on unrelated charges during the course of the investigation.

This incident marks at least the fourth homicide in Fort Myers this year, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city.

Stevenson is scheduled to appear in court on December 18 for his arraignment.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and help bring justice for Motley’s family.
