Nicolas Candelaria: Two Arrested in Connection with Albuquerque Homicide

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – In early November, the authorities in Albuquerque responded to a fatal shooting incident. Now, two individuals have been linked to the homicide.

The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) stated that Nicolas Candelaria was killed on November 1 in the 500 block of Atlantic Avenue SW. They concluded that Lanise Padilla, 23, and Richard Anderson, 24, attempted to rob Candelaria during a drug transaction.

According to APD, Anderson shot Candelaria three times when he reached for a gun. Afterward, Anderson allegedly took the drugs and fled the scene.

Padilla was apprehended on Saturday morning after being caught driving without a license plate. She had a murder warrant issued for her arrest, and authorities have impounded her vehicle as they believe it may be connected to the homicide.

Meanwhile, Anderson was discovered at a residence in the 1000 block of Marapi Street NW and was taken into custody on Saturday night.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the authorities are working to gather more evidence and information related to the incident.
