Kentwood Man Mervin Briggs Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Tangipahoa Parish

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday night in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, resulting in the death of a 44-year-old man from Kentwood. Mervin Briggs, the victim of the crash, was driving his 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 when the vehicle veered off Louisiana Hwy. 1058 and collided with a tree. Louisiana State Police reported that Briggs was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The incident took place near the intersection of Hwy. 1059, and the exact cause of the crash is still being investigated. State Police stated that Briggs lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the highway and crash into the tree. Sadly, Briggs was pronounced dead at the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was collected for analysis.
