A tragic incident unfolded at a Thai wedding party on November 25, resulting in the death of four individuals, including the groom’s wife, before he took his own life. The shocking event occurred in a village in the Wang Nam Khieo district of Nakhon Ratchasima, a north-eastern province in Thailand.

The groom, identified as Chaturong Suksuk, was a former Paralympic athlete who had represented Thailand in swimming and shooting. The 29-year-old had recently married his bride, Kanchana Pachunthuek, on the morning of November 25. However, during the wedding party in the evening, guests and family members noticed that Chaturong appeared less happy than expected.

At some point during the celebration, Chaturong left and returned with a 9mm pistol. Shockingly, he opened fire, killing his wife, her mother, and her younger sister. Tragically, two guests were also hit by stray bullets and were immediately rushed to the local hospital. Sadly, one of the injured guests did not survive.

Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind these horrifying killings. Initial findings suggest that the couple had an argument during the party, according to a report by the Thaiger news website. Chaturong and his wife had been living together for three years before deciding to tie the knot.

Chaturong had previously served as a paramilitary ranger but lost his right leg in a duty-related accident. Despite his disability, he achieved remarkable success as an athlete, winning a silver medal in the 11th Asean Para Games held in Indonesia in 2022, as reported by Thai newspaper KhaoSod.

This tragic incident occurred just days after the Thai Interior Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, signed an order to suspend the issuance of gun licenses for one year. The decision was made in response to a series of recent shootings in the Thai capital, with the aim of reducing gun violence in the country.
