Two teenagers have been arrested following a fatal crash in Michigan City early on Saturday morning. An 18-year-old, Mykel Trice, lost his life in the incident. The Michigan City police officer was on patrol in the north side of the city at around midnight when he heard gunshots coming from the Eastport neighborhood. The police’s gunshot detection system led them to Walker Street, where a crash involving three vehicles had occurred. Trice was found dead and trapped under one of the overturned vehicles. Jordan Glancy, 19, was identified as the driver of one of the crashed vehicles and was detained by police for further investigation.

During the course of the investigation, officers received a call reporting a gunshot wound at Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital. The victim, 18-year-old Jermaine Carter Jr., was being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right leg. After being discharged from the hospital, Carter was detained by investigators. He has since been arrested on charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and unlawful carrying of a handgun. Glancy, on the other hand, was arrested for dealing a controlled substance and marijuana.
