Cory J. Snow, 52, Arrested for Attempted Murder and Other Charges After Firing Gun into Hancock County Home

HANCOCK COUNTY – Authorities from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department (HCSD) have arrested a man from Indianapolis on preliminary charges of attempted murder after a firearm was discharged into a county home on Saturday.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, according to officials.

Cory Jerome Snow, aged 52 and residing on the 3600 block of N. Irvington Avenue, is also facing preliminary charges of possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, criminal recklessness, and possession of a controlled substance, the HCSD stated in a release.

Law enforcement received a call regarding a shot being fired at around 4:09 p.m. on Saturday, November 25. The incident occurred on the 1700 block of North Creekwater Pass in Greenfield, near Mt. Comfort Road and I-70. The call was initially reported as a disturbance among several family members in the house, during which one member discharged at least one round.

Deputy Robert Durbin arrived at the scene and located Snow walking in the vicinity. Deputy Danielle Pruitt arrived to assist in securing Snow.

Upon speaking with family members at the residence, deputies learned that Snow is the boyfriend of the grandmother/mother living there. The argument escalated, and Snow allegedly brandished a handgun, threatening the family. As the family attempted to flee, Snow fired at least one shot from the gun inside the residence, aimed at them. Authorities discovered a bullet hole in the front door of the house and an impact mark on the porch. A single bullet was recovered from the exterior of a nearby house.

Thankfully, no injuries were sustained during the incident. A handgun and a bag of controlled substances were found near the suspect by Fortville Police Department officer Derek Archer and his K-9 partner.

Snow was arrested without further incident. While Snow is originally from Indianapolis, he was residing at the Creekwater Pass residence. Deputies discovered that he had an outstanding warrant from Marion County related to an operating while intoxicated case. He is currently being held at the Hancock County Jail, awaiting final charges to be determined by the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office.

The HCSD expressed their gratitude to several law enforcement agencies, including the Knightstown Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Greenfield Police Department, Fortville Police Department, McCordsville Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers for their assistance with calls-for-service while HCSD Deputies were occupied with this investigation.
