41-Year-Old Long Beach Resident Andre McClendon Shot and Killed in Washington Neighborhood

The Long Beach Police Department is currently investigating a murder that occurred in the Washington neighborhood of the city. The incident involved the shooting of a 41-year-old man who sadly lost his life overnight.

According to a news release from the LBPD, the shooting took place at around 2 a.m. on Sunday in the 1700 block of Pine Avenue, just south of Pacific Coast Highway. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite immediate medical assistance from both officers and Long Beach Fire Department personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Andre McClendon, a resident of Long Beach.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the homicide detectives suggest that McClendon was shot shortly after being approached by several male individuals. These individuals fled the scene in a vehicle before the officers arrived.
