Kanpur News: A shocking incident unfolded in Kanpur as the lifeless body of a 25-year-old medical student was discovered in the basement of a private university’s old boys’ hostel. The victim, Sahil Saraswat from Mathura, was a second-year MBBS student at Rama University on Bithoor Road.
The discovery was made near the stairs early in the morning, revealing two deep injury marks on Sahil’s head. Authorities are currently investigating whether this is a case of murder or an unfortunate accident. Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Anand Prakash Tiwari, stated that a panel of three doctors would conduct the post-mortem examination. To ensure transparency, Tiwari also instructed for the entire autopsy process to be recorded on video.

Commissioner of Police RK Swarnkar and DCP West Vijay Dhull arrived at the hostel to find Sahil’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood. Sahil had been residing in the old boys’ hostel alongside his room partner, Amit Gautam, a third-year MBBS student.
In a separate tragic incident, a stampede-like situation occurred during a music concert at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in Kochi, Kerala. As a result, four students lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries.
Another distressing incident took place in Delhi’s Aman Vihar area in November. A group of youths attacked and fatally stabbed a 16-year-old boy named Akash after a confrontation. Akash, a tenth-grade student, had gone to meet his friend at Prem Nagar Extension when the assault occurred.
These recent events serve as a reminder of the tragic incidents that can occur within educational institutions. The authorities must thoroughly investigate these cases and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
