Tragedy struck the Red Sands community on Friday night when an 18-year-old young man was killed in a shooting incident. Two other 18-year-olds were also injured in the incident, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO).
The incident took place at around 9 p.m. at 1600 Montana Ave. in far east El Paso. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found the victim, Mauricio Ellas, who was rushed to a local hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The two injured individuals were also 18 years old and were taken to local medical facilities with non-life-threatening injuries.
At present, the EPCSO has not provided any information about potential suspects or arrests related to the shooting. They have also not disclosed any details about what led to the incident.
