Woman in Odisha’s Kendrapara district dies after being pushed by youth angry over son’s refusal to give him bike

A woman in Odisha’s Kendrapara district tragically lost her life on Thursday after being pushed by a young man who was angry that her son refused to lend him his new bike. The incident occurred when the woman collided with a coconut tree and fell onto the concrete road, sustaining a fatal head injury. Despite her family’s efforts to rush her to Pattamundai hospital for treatment, doctors declared her “brought dead.”

The victim has been identified by the police as Sandhyarani Sharma from Sorishada village in Kendrapara’s Aul Police station area. The youth responsible for her death has been named as Sudhir Sharma.

The incident unfolded when Sudhir approached Sandhyarani’s son, Tapas Sharma, and requested to borrow his bike. However, Tapas declined to hand over the bike’s key, leading Sudhir to unleash a verbal tirade against him. Sandhyarani, in an attempt to intervene and protect her son, found herself subjected to Sudhir’s violent push.

Following the complaint filed by Sandhyarani’s family at Aul Police Station, Sudhir was promptly arrested by the authorities.

Tapas, the bereaved son, revealed that Sudhir had persistently harassed him, repeatedly asking for his bike. “When I refused to give him the bike’s keys, he started verbally abusing my family. When my mother attempted to intervene, he callously pushed her onto the road, resulting in her immediate demise,” Tapas shared.

This tragic incident highlights the devastating consequences that can arise from acts of violence fueled by anger and frustration. The loss of Sandhyarani’s life serves as a stark reminder of the need for peaceful and respectful resolutions to disagreements. The local community mourns the loss of a beloved mother, while Sudhir awaits legal proceedings for his alleged role in this fatal incident.
