Westminster Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing 9-Year-Old Daughter

A 32-year-old woman from Westminster, California was taken into custody on Friday for the suspected murder of her 9-year-old daughter, according to local police authorities.

The Westminster Police Department received a tip from a concerned family member, prompting officers to conduct a welfare check at the residence on Goldenwest Street. The officers forcibly entered the home and discovered the lifeless body of the child, who showed obvious signs of trauma, said Sgt. Edward Esqueda.

Khadiyjah Pendergraph, the mother of the deceased girl, was identified as a person of interest in the case. Working in collaboration with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, detectives from the Westminster Police Department located and apprehended Pendergraph at a shopping center in Aliso Viejo.

Pendergraph was promptly booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder, confirmed the police.

Westminster Police Chief Darin Lenyi expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident, stating, “While police officers are confronted with tragedies on a daily basis, this murder is particularly distressing due to the senseless loss of a child allegedly at the hands of her own mother. The members of the WPD grieve with the victim’s family and extend our deepest condolences.”
