Indian-Origin Student in Coma After Assault in Australia

An Indian-origin student studying at the University of Tasmania is currently in a coma after being assaulted. The incident took place on November 5 in Tasmania, resulting in the victim suffering severe injuries. The student, who is in his 20s, had to undergo a lengthy brain surgery.

The alleged perpetrator, identified as 25-year-old Benjamin Dodge Collings from Lenah Valley, has been arrested and charged with criminal assault. If convicted, he could face up to 21 years in prison. Collings was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on December 4 to address the charges against him, which include assault, providing false information, resisting a police officer, and unrelated driving offenses.
