A 21-year-old man was reportedly stabbed to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia on Friday night following a dispute over a comment on Facebook. The victim, Deepu Paswan, was returning home when the incident occurred. His mother, Shubhawati Devi, lodged a complaint against the unidentified miscreants, claiming that her son had an argument with some people on Facebook over a comment and also engaged in a fight with the suspects over the phone.

According to Bansdih Circle Officer (CO), Shiv Narain Vaish, an FIR has been lodged against the unidentified suspects based on the mother’s complaint, and investigations have been initiated. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused individuals.

This incident is not the first of its kind. Last year in Karnataka’s Mysuru, three people were arrested in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old boy over indecent comments made on social media. The accused individuals were identified as Nitin, Manoj, and Potharaj.

The victim, H. Beeresh, had apparently left an offensive comment under the post of one of the accused’s wife. This enraged Nitin, who, along with his two accomplices, stabbed Beeresh multiple times. The victim was rushed to a hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

These incidents highlight the dangers associated with online disputes escalating into real-world violence. Social media platforms have become a breeding ground for arguments and conflicts, often leading to tragic consequences. It is crucial for individuals to exercise restraint and refrain from engaging in such heated exchanges, which can have severe and irreversible outcomes.

Authorities need to address this issue and promote awareness about responsible online behavior, emphasizing the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully and seeking help from law enforcement when necessary. Additionally, social media platforms should implement stricter measures to monitor and prevent the spread of harmful content, ensuring the safety and well-being of their users.
