The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has warned Gazans not to head to the northern part of the Strip, stating that the war with Hamas is not yet over. This comes as a four-day truce between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Qatar, began on Friday. Reports have emerged that some Gazans who had fled south are now returning to their homes in the north.
In a video message shared on social media, IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee emphasized that the conflict is ongoing and urged residents of Gaza to stay in the southern humanitarian zone. He warned that the northern Gaza area is a dangerous war zone and it is forbidden and very dangerous to be there. Adraee stressed that the temporary ceasefire does not mean the war is finished and urged Gazans to make the right choice for their safety.

The warning from the IDF comes days after Palestinians in the north of Gaza received notices from the Israeli military to move to the south of the strip. The notices cautioned that staying in the north could result in being identified as sympathizers with a “terrorist organization.” Israel has been conducting airstrikes on Gaza since Hamas launched an attack on Israeli soil in early October.
Many families who had previously moved from the north to the south have reported losing relatives during the Israeli airstrikes in southern Gaza. The situation remains tense, with both sides on high alert despite the temporary truce.
