Two Workers Killed and Others Injured in Naxalite Attack at Iron Ore Mine in Chhattisgarh

Two workers were killed and several others were injured in an explosion at an iron ore mine in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Friday. The blast, believed to be caused by a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites, occurred at around 7:30 AM as the workers were leaving for work at the Amdai Ghati iron ore mill.

According to a senior police official, the victims have been identified as 21-year-old Ritesh Gagada and 24-year-old Shravan Gagda, both from Narayanpur district. Shravan’s body was found at the blast site after he was reported missing following the explosion. Another worker, Umesh Rana, was injured and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The iron ore mine in Aamdai Ghati is operated by Jayaswal Neco Industries Limited (JNIL), and the Naxalites have been opposing the project for some time. The police believe that the workers came into contact with the pressure IED connection, triggering the blast.

Security personnel are now conducting a search operation in the area to ensure the safety of the workers and to investigate the incident further. The explosion has raised concerns about the security of workers in the region and the ongoing conflict between Naxalites and the government.

The incident highlights the dangers faced by workers in industries operating in areas affected by Naxalite insurgency. It also underscores the need for increased security measures and vigilance to prevent such attacks and protect the lives of workers.
