A resident of Northeast D.C. was declared dead at a local hospital on Wednesday following a shooting incident in the 1100 block of M Street Northwest, according to a police news release.
The name of the deceased person has been released by the D.C. police. The individual, Turell Delonte Campbell, a 30-year-old resident of Northeast D.C., was pronounced dead at a local hospital after a shooting incident in the mentioned block. The shooting occurred after Campbell allegedly fled from U.S. Park Police officers, resulting in a fatal exchange of gunfire.

The encounter between Campbell and Park Police took place around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the area of 12th Street and Massachusetts Avenue Northwest. Multiple officers were present when Campbell was identified as a suspect in a drug violation within the jurisdiction of the Park Police.
Both Campbell and a Park Police officer pursuing him were shot near the 1100 block of M Street NW. However, authorities do not have further details regarding who fired first or the reason behind the deadly chase.
Sgt. Thomas Twiname, a spokesperson for the Park Police, stated that the investigation will reveal how the gunfire was exchanged as they review available footage.
Police recovered a firearm believed to belong to Campbell at the scene of the shooting. The officer, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, is listed in stable condition and is recovering in a local hospital.
