Kanpur: A tragic accident in the Gajner area of Kanpur Dehat district claimed the lives of four individuals, including a young man who was set to get married next week. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the car they were traveling in crashed into a roadside tree.
The deceased have been identified as Jai Singh, aged 25, son of Rajpal Singh, a resident of Bhaithana, Gajner. Jai Singh was eagerly awaiting his wedding, scheduled to take place on November 28. He had gone to Auraiya to pick up his sister and relatives and was returning home with them when the accident occurred. Unfortunately, both Jai Singh and his sister Priya Sengar, aged 40, died on the spot, along with two other relatives.

According to the police, the accident happened around 1:30 am near Hridaypur Pama when the driver of the car apparently fell asleep, causing the vehicle to collide with a tree. The impact of the crash resulted in the death of four individuals, while five others sustained serious injuries.
The victims have been identified as residents of Banthara Bidhuna in Auraiya. In addition to Jai Singh and Priya Sengar, the deceased include Ranno Devi, aged 70, and Priya, aged 14, daughter of Ramprakash. The injured individuals, including the car driver Pradeep Kumar, have been rushed to the district hospital and later referred to Kanpur’s Lala Lajpat Rai hospital.
Senior police officials arrived at the scene and supervised the rescue operation. The incident has left the community in shock, especially as the victims were on their way to attend a joyous occasion. The tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to remain attentive and avoid fatigue while behind the wheel.
