Terrorists Killed in Jammu and Kashmir Encounter: Hideout Pictures Released
Security officials in Jammu and Kashmir have shared images of a small cave that was used as a hideout by terrorists, following the killing of two militants, including a top commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit. The hideout, located in the forests of Rajouri district, was difficult to detect and breach, according to security officials.

The encounter, which took place over two days, resulted in the deaths of five Army personnel, including two special forces captains. Three others were injured during the operation. The area was cordoned off overnight to prevent the terrorists from escaping the highly forested region. However, fresh firing resumed the next morning, resulting in the killing of the two LeT militants and the loss of one soldier’s life.
Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi revealed that some of the terrorists may have been retired soldiers from the Pakistan Army. He also stated that Pakistan aims to bring foreign terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir, as there is a lack of local recruits. The Army Commander emphasized the ongoing efforts to eliminate foreign terrorists in the region.
Rajouri and Poonch, due to their hilly topography and proximity to the Line of Control, are considered vulnerable to terror attacks. Rajouri, in particular, serves as a transit route to Kashmir when the mountain passes in the region are closed during winter. The terrain in Rajouri is mountainous, with peaks reaching an altitude of 4,535 meters. The Line of Control runs along the southern Kali Dhar and Koti Dhar ranges.
The slain LeT terrorist, known as Quari, had received training on the Pakistan-Afghan front and was a senior leader of the group. He had been active in Rajouri-Poonch for the past year and was believed to be the mastermind behind the Dangri and Kandi twin attacks, which resulted in the deaths of seven civilians and injured 14 others. Quari was also an expert in improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The release of the hideout pictures provides a glimpse into the challenging terrain and the constant threats faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Efforts to combat terrorism in the region continue, with a focus on eliminating foreign terrorists and ensuring the safety of the local population.
