Ohio Police Release Bodycam Footage of Gruesome Walmart Shooting Aftermath: 20-Year-Old Benjamin Charles Jones Identified as Shooter

Ohio police have released body camera footage documenting their response to a mass shooting at a local Walmart, providing insight into the tragic incident involving 20-year-old Benjamin Charles Jones from Dayton. Jones entered the store on Monday and began shooting indiscriminately with a Hi-Point .45-caliber Carbine Long Gun.

The newly revealed bodycam footage captures the tense moments as officers navigate through the store, passing Christmas decorations in their search for the shooter. Ultimately, they discovered Jones’ lifeless body in the store’s visitor’s center, where he had succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Witness Alisha Ring, who was present during the incident, shared her harrowing experience in a tearful Facebook Live video. She recalled the assailant walking past her with an assault rifle and firing about ten shots. “I was literally just shopping for Thanksgiving stuff, and this guy walked right past me with an assault rifle and started shooting,” Ring said.

The FBI has stated that the shooting may have been partially motivated by ideologies categorized as “racially or ethnically motivated violence.” Investigators are actively examining evidence, including Jones’ journals, to determine the motive behind the attack. The victims, two Black women, a white woman, and a white man, were promptly transported to local hospitals. Three of them were in critical condition, while the fourth sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Jones had reportedly embraced white supremacist conspiracy theories and had undergone mental health evaluations multiple times in the past two years. Despite a lack of clarity on his motives, a source close to the situation described Jones as a troubled individual with minimal socialization and a history of personal challenges.
