Man Arrested for Killing Wife and Daughter with Snakebite in Odisha’s Ganjam District

In a shocking incident in Ganjam district, Odisha, a man has been arrested by the police in relation to the death of his wife and young daughter from a snakebite.

The accused, K Ganesh Patra, had been experiencing marital problems with his wife. It is alleged that he devised a plan to kill her and their two-year-old daughter.

Patra obtained a Cobra from a snake charmer and released it into the room where his wife and daughter were on October 7.

The snake bit the mother and daughter, and they were immediately taken to a local hospital. Tragically, the doctors declared them dead after conducting a medical examination.

Initially, the police treated the incident as an accidental death caused by a snakebite. However, the investigation took a different turn when the father-in-law filed a complaint against Patra.

“On that night, the family members killed the snake and rushed the mother and daughter to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The post-mortem report confirmed the cause of death as snakebite. We initiated our investigation based on the allegations made by the deceased’s father. During our inquiry, we discovered that Patra had acquired the snake from a charmer. We will also be questioning the charmer,” stated a police official involved in the case.

After an extensive investigation, the accused was apprehended by the police.

Further inquiries are currently underway to gather more information about the incident.
