Decomposed Body of Unidentified Man Found in Pune Forest Park
Pune: The highly decomposed body of an unidentified man was discovered in the forest park behind Mahalaxmi Lawns in Lohegaon on Wednesday night. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death.

According to Inspector Sangeeta Mali of the Airport Police (crime) department, the body was found after a person reported it to the police. The body appeared to have been lying in the forest park for approximately five to six days. No visible injury marks were found on the body. The police have sent the body to the Sassoon General Hospital for a postmortem examination, the results of which are still awaited.
Efforts to establish the man’s identity have so far been unsuccessful. The police have not found any documents or ID cards on the victim’s person that could provide clues. Furthermore, there are no CCTV cameras in the vicinity, making it difficult to gather additional leads. The police have shared photos of the deceased with all police units in the district in an attempt to identify him.
Inspector Mali mentioned that the police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the victim based on the clothes found on his body. They are also interviewing locals and checking missing persons complaints. As of now, a complaint relating to accidental death has been registered under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The police are seeking the assistance of their intelligence network to trace the man’s identity and locate any potential next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and more information is expected to emerge once the postmortem report is received.
