CTD operation in Turbat kills four, victim identified as Balaach

GWADAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) announced on Thursday that it had successfully eliminated four suspected terrorists in a targeted operation in the Turbat town of Balochistan’s Kech district.

Acting on valuable intelligence, the CTD launched the operation near a bus terminal on Pasni Road. As the CTD team approached the location, the armed individuals opened fire using automatic weapons and threw hand grenades.

In response, the raiding party swiftly retaliated, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire. Ultimately, four suspects were killed. However, some of the attackers managed to escape towards the south of Turbat under the cover of darkness.

After the operation, the CTD team discovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives. This included two sub-machine guns, a pistol, 8kg of explosives, a hand grenade, two motorbikes, a motorcycle rigged with an improvised explosive device, and a substantial amount of ammunition.

Following the incident, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the local police, who then transported them to the district hospital. One of the deceased individuals was identified as Balaach by his family.

Local police and other law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the matter to gather more information.

Meanwhile, Balaach’s family and members of civil society staged a sit-in at Shaheed Fida Ahmed Chowk, accompanied by his body. They alleged that Balaach had been apprehended by the CTD last month and presented before a local court, which remanded him in police custody for ten days.

The grieving family is urging the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Balaach’s death. They have vowed to continue the sit-in until their demands are met.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Balochistan to combat terrorism. The CTD’s successful operation has eliminated a potential threat to the region’s peace and stability.
