The body of a gram rozgar sevak (GRS) was discovered under mysterious circumstances near Dhatukimal village in the Rairakhol district on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Pradyumna Kumar Das from Naktideul area in the district. However, Das’ family members have accused foul play, claiming that he was murdered and dumped near Dhatukimal chowk.
Das had been working as a GRS in the Ghosaramal gram panchayat of the Rairakhol block for the past five months. On Wednesday, he left for work as usual and also went to the village Rail for official business. However, as he did not return home by late evening, his family members grew concerned and began searching for him. Eventually, they found his lifeless body near the Dhatukimal chowk that same night. The deceased’s bike was also found abandoned nearby. The police arrived at the scene and took possession of the body.

Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) PK Meher stated that a case has been registered based on the complaint lodged by the family members. Meher added that some minor injuries were reportedly found on the deceased’s body. However, the exact cause of death cannot be determined until the postmortem report is received.
The mysterious circumstances surrounding Das’ death have left the community in shock and grief. Investigations are currently underway to uncover the truth behind the incident and bring justice to the deceased and his family. As the case progresses, it is hoped that more information will emerge to shed light on this tragic event.
