In recent news, it has been reported that over 85% of vehicles in Delhi do not possess pollution under control (PUC) certificates, with the majority being two-wheelers. Delhi has a total of 97 lakh registered vehicles, including 27.8 lakh cars and 69.8 lakh two-wheelers, out of which approximately 22 lakh do not have a valid PUC certificate. Despite stricter enforcement and the issuance of fines, many vehicle owners manage to escape punishment. The number of vehicles with PUC certificates has declined over the years, raising concerns about the city’s air quality.

In another hit-and-run incident, a 27-year-old man named Ashish Yadav was pushed by his acquaintance, Ravi Rajbhar, in Mumbai. As a result, Yadav lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a divider, sustaining multiple injuries. While Yadav was lying bleeding on the road, a passing truck ran over him, causing his death. The truck driver fled the scene, leaving Yadav without any medical assistance. Rajbhar has been arrested by the police following a complaint filed by Yadav’s brother.

These incidents highlight the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
