Delaware State Police recently apprehended three teenagers in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents and a high-speed pursuit in Rehoboth Beach. The suspects, a 16-year-old male and two 15-year-old males, all from Claymont, Delaware, were arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident began when troopers were called to Under Armour at the Bayside Outlet Drive for a reported shoplifting. The suspects fled the scene in a tan Chevrolet Cruze with Pennsylvania registration. A trooper spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on Coastal Highway and attempted to pull it over. However, the driver ignored the traffic stop and ran a red light, speeding away. Moments later, the Chevrolet lost control and collided with another vehicle while trying to make a turn onto Dartmouth Drive. The driver and passengers then fled on foot but were eventually apprehended by troopers.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the three teenagers had stolen merchandise worth over $5,000 from Under Armour, Nike, and The North Face stores at the Tanger Bayside Outlets. Additionally, it was found that the Chevrolet was reported stolen from Troop 1 on October 14, 2023.
The 16-year-old driver was charged with several offenses, including shoplifting, theft, receiving stolen property, disregarding a police officer signal, conspiracy, resisting arrest, and traffic violations. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and held at Stevenson House Detention Center on a $2,880 secured bond.
Both 15-year-old passengers face similar charges of shoplifting, theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and resisting arrest. They were also arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and detained at Stevenson House Detention Center on a $2,300 secured bond each.
The Delaware State Police have been actively combating shoplifting and other criminal activities in the area. This incident serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are committed to maintaining public safety and holding individuals accountable for their actions.
