Woman Sentenced to Decades in Prison for Killing Two State Troopers and Pedestrian in Philadelphia

A young woman has been given a lengthy prison sentence after admitting to causing a fatal car crash while driving under the influence. Jayana Webb, aged 23, from Eagleville, pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree murder and three counts of homicide by vehicle while intoxicated. The incident occurred in Philadelphia in March last year. Webb has been sentenced to between 27 and a half and 60 years behind bars.

District Attorney Larry Krasner described the crash as one of the most shocking incidents of vehicular violence in recent memory. The accident resulted in the deaths of two state troopers, Martin Mack III and Branden Sisca, as well as a pedestrian named Reyes Rivera Oliveras, aged 28 from Allentown. The troopers had been trying to assist Oliveras in crossing Interstate 95 near the city’s sports stadiums when they were all struck by Webb’s speeding vehicle.

Webb’s defense attorney, Michael Walker, revealed that his client, who is currently seven months pregnant, will remain free until she gives birth in February. She will then be allowed time to bond with her child before reporting to prison. Walker stated that Webb expressed deep sorrow and apologized to the victims’ families during the court proceedings. He emphasized that she will never forgive herself and suffers greatly from the consequences of her actions.

Earlier court hearings focused on Webb’s blood alcohol content, which was twice the legal limit, as well as traces of marijuana found in her system. Authorities also highlighted her social media activity, including a post made that morning boasting about being stopped for driving at a dangerous speed. The troopers who had stopped her were redirected to help Oliveras, leading to the fatal collision.

Trooper Mack, aged 33, had been serving since 2014 and was stationed in Philadelphia since 2015. Trooper Sisca, aged 29, had enlisted in 2021 and recently graduated. Colonel Robert Evanchick, the state police commissioner, lamented the senseless loss of their promising careers.
