A woman has received a lengthy prison sentence after admitting to driving under the influence and causing a crash that killed two state troopers and a pedestrian in Philadelphia last year. Jayana Webb, aged 23, pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree murder and three counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. The incident occurred in March 2022, and Webb has now been sentenced to 27 1/2 to 60 years in prison.
District Attorney Larry Krasner described the sentencing as a “just resolution” for one of the most shocking cases of vehicular violence in recent memory. According to police reports, Troopers Martin Mack III and Branden Sisca were attempting to help a pedestrian on Interstate 95 when Webb’s vehicle, traveling at a high speed, struck all three victims. The troopers and the pedestrian, identified as 28-year-old Reyes Rivera Oliveras, tragically lost their lives at the scene.

Webb, who is currently seven months pregnant, will be allowed to remain out of custody until she gives birth in February. After that, she will have some time to bond with her child before reporting to prison. Webb’s defense attorney, Michael Walker, stated that his client expressed deep sorrow and apologized to the victims’ families during the court hearing. He added that Webb will never forgive herself and recognizes the severe punishment she faces, which has significantly impacted her life.
Previous court hearings focused on Webb’s blood alcohol content and her social media activity. Authorities discovered that she had posted about being stopped for speeding at 110 mph in a 50 mph zone earlier that morning. The troopers who stopped her were redirected to assist Oliveras, who was attempting to cross the highway. As they worked to remove him from the road, Webb tried to pass their parked police vehicle at a high speed, resulting in the tragic collision. Prosecutors revealed that Webb had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit and tested positive for marijuana.
The two state troopers, Mack and Sisca, were highly regarded and had promising futures ahead of them. Col. Robert Evanchick, the state police commissioner, expressed his sadness at the loss of these dedicated officers whose lives were senselessly cut short.
