Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pays tribute to Army Captain Shubham Gupta killed in action during encounter

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences on Thursday to the family of Army Captain Shubham Gupta, who was killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Captain Gupta, a resident of Agra district, was one of four army personnel killed in the exchange.

In a press release from the Chief Minister’s office, CM Yogi stated that the Uttar Pradesh government stands with the bereaved family during this time of grief. Captain Gupta, who joined the Indian Army in 2015 and was commissioned in 2018, was serving as a first posting in Udhampur.

Meanwhile, the ongoing encounter between terrorists and joint forces of the Army and J-K Police in the Bajimaal area of Dharmsal, Rajouri district, entered its second day on Thursday. Two terrorists have been killed in the operation, including a highly-ranked leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba identified as Quari, a Pakistani national. The killed terrorist was trained on the Pakistani and Afghan fronts and is believed to be the mastermind of several attacks in the region.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps reported that the terrorists have been injured and surrounded, and operations are still in progress. Troops, including Special Forces, were deployed in the area based on specific intelligence about the movement of terrorists.

The encounter in Rajouri is a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army in their efforts to prevent collateral damage to civilians. The 16 Corps Commander and Rashtriya Rifles’ Romeo Force commander are closely monitoring the operations.
