Three members of Gautam family from Pune killed in bus accident near Kolhapur

Three members of a family from Pune lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in a tragic accident that occurred near Kolhapur city in the early hours of Thursday. The incident took place when a private bus, traveling from Goa to Mumbai, toppled over while negotiating a sharp turn.

According to officials from the Kolhapur district police, the accident happened around 2 am in the Puikhadi area on Radhanagari Road. The bus had started its journey from Panaji with approximately 25 passengers on board. The driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating the turn, causing it to flip onto its side. The Kolhapur fire brigade was alerted and successfully rescued trapped passengers.

The authorities have confirmed that three individuals from a family in Pune were killed in the accident. They have been identified as Nilu Gautam (43), Riddhima Gautam (17), and Sarthak Gautam (13), all residents of Manjari Budruk in Pune. Additionally, at least six other passengers sustained injuries, the extent of which is currently being assessed.

The injured individuals were immediately rushed to the Chhatrapati Pramila Raje Civil Hospital in Kolhapur for medical treatment. The authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident.
