Senior Engineer Prabhu Commits Suicide at Mysuru City Railway Station

Mysore/Mysuru: A senior engineer of South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru Division, tragically took his own life by jumping in front of a moving train at City Railway Station yesterday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Prabhu, a native of Chikkajajur village in Chitradurga district. Prabhu was serving as a Senior Section Engineer in the Mechanical Department at SWR, Mysuru Division, and was residing in Gokulam, Mysore.

The incident occurred when Prabhu came into contact with the Mysuru-Bagalkot train on Platform No. 6 of the City Railway Station.

Sources reveal that Prabhu had recently returned to work after taking leave. His duty in the section started at 12:30 pm and was scheduled to end at 8:30 pm. Shockingly, the incident took place within an hour of him reporting to duty.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the Mysuru Railway Police Inspector Ashok and his team rushed to the scene. They conducted investigations, registered a case, and subsequently transferred the body to the MMC&RI mortuary. The body was later handed over to Prabhu’s mother, sisters, and relatives, who took it to Chitradurga for the final rites.

Prabhu, who was unmarried, was known for having good relationships with his colleagues and being a diligent worker, according to railway officials and his colleagues.

The reason behind Prabhu’s decision to take such a drastic step remains unknown to both his family members and colleagues. The Railway Police are currently investigating the matter to shed light on the circumstances leading up to this tragic incident.

The incident has shocked the railway community, and friends and colleagues of Prabhu are mourning his untimely demise. The railway authorities are urging employees to seek help and support if they are facing any personal or professional challenges that may affect their mental well-being.
